Running two radiators? Will it be ok?

I've decided to go with a smaller Lian Li 65B case. I'm thinking of putting a Black Ice XtremeII Radiator on the top and a Black Ice Micro II in the front since it has two 80mm fans side by side. Of course I'll have some fun cutting holes for one ontop.

Would this setup be ok? Would I need two pumps? It would be running thru a TDX and two maze 4's on 7800GTX's.

That won't be really efficient, though. One pump might be fine but the flow will suffer. Just get one big radiator (even better, a heatercore: much cheaper and better at cooling).

What heater core would you recomend? I do not want to mod one, just a buy and install one. I hear they dont work well unless paired with a shroud. Where do you find a shroud for it?

Thanks!

You'll be fine. Instead of the BIM2, get another BIX or BIP single to fit up front. If you feel adventerious, get a PA160 although it'll be unnecessary.

Really you dont even need the second rad, yes you will be fine, but your flow rates will suffer some, but the reality is that your almost better off just using a single rad, as the flow loss and thermal differential will be off set somewhat by eachother.

This is actually becoming more common. I am going to two rads once I get my 6800 water cooled. WHat pump are you using? Are you going to cool only your CPU?

I've got the DD D4 pump and it will be cooling the CPU + 2 7800s.

2 Loops would work great. Again I was thinking CPU> Rad> Vid> Pump> Rad> Cpu

This way your water would be cooled off before hitting the Vid blocks.

I'm not sure which would be more efficient. I imagine 2 loops would if you have the room for 2 pumps....

I don't know what you're cooling, but unless it involves like 4 blocks or something a BIX2 with some good fans should easily be able to handle it.

The order does not really matter, it has been proven that the water temp does not raise more than 1c over an entire loop. 2 loops is hard to do, but if you could pull it off, it would be great.

Again all I was thinking is to get the water as cool as possible before the vid block.

it has been proven that the water temp does not raise more than 1c over an entire loop.

Where has this been proven. When I am gaming for long periods of time, the exhaust from my rad fan is quite warm. I can actually feel that the hoses are warmer....

You misunderstood that quote a bit. What it means is that the water coming out of your waterblock will usually be no more than one degree higher than the water coming into the block. The water keeps pretty much the same temperature throughout the entire loop. The water might get warmer during extended periods of high load, but it will still be pretty much the same temp all through the loop.

I still do not see how that is possible.

The water carries the spent energy (heat) from the CPU to the rad where it (heat) is then transfered to the air. If your block is doing it's job, there should be quite a bit of heat transfered to the water. In turn if the rad/fan is doing its job most of that heat should be transfered to the ambient room.....

Water has a high capacitive storage for heat so despite the fact that it's taking the full heat of all your waterblocks, it can store it easily. It's like spitting in a milk jug. You can get a lot of spit before it's full.

No, you CAN'T fit a 120x3 radiator in a Lian Li PC60/65/7. The most you can fit is a 120x2. One good radiator should be fine for you.

actually you can, you can back mount it or mount it on the bottom and have some tall feet for the case.

A BIXII with a couple of 80cfm fans or higher undervolted will cool that fine. You don't need the second rad.
