Safe Temp for System (mainboard)

What is the maximum safe temperature for your mainboard or system temperature? I'm not sure which is the proper term for it, but I've seen both used in various temperature programs. Under load my System temp (mainboard) runs about 51 or 52C. Hardware monitor in windows says this is in the red, but I really don't know. Another wierd thing, my cpu temps always run significantly lower than my system temps. Why is this? I'm trying to push my system a little harder, but not sure where to stop. Also, what is generally considered the maximum temp for an intel P4 CPU?

I am currently running a P4 2.4 with an albatron PEV Pro (845PE) m/b. I have a stock HSF and 1 side window mounted case fan. Do I need more case fans to bring down my system (mainboard) temps? Thanks.

uhm no if ur chipset temperature, or rather the motherboard temperature really exceeds 50° u might be in trouble soon. guess u just took the cpu temperature instead. chipset temp normally is about 30°.

yeh...my proc doesnt even get that hot!!!

sure, if u got good case cooling u might have chipset temps around 24° ( so do I ) but less is not very common
