safe voltage for a 2.53 P4 ?

Hi

guys whats a safe voltage for a 2.53 ?
Ive been up all night trying to get this thing over 3ghz but it wont go (wont even boot) and the funny thing is that at 3ghz it runs on stock volt
I tried a max of 1.75V, Im a bit worried about going higher
the board is a Abit IS7-E and the ram is kingston PC3200

should I try more voltage or did I hit the CPUs limit ?

please let me know

Thank you
Dan

Hi im using the same motherboard as you are, but with a northwood 2.4ghz 533fsb chip and pny pc3200 ddr, I can't get mine to boot on anything higher than 2.65ghz..

i was hoping for around 3 myself :(

Anything 1.7 and over is considered dangerous for pentium 4s. I would try and back down a bit to 1.7 or below. Personally I would run at 1.65 volts max.

Once you reach your desired overclock/ your maximum overclock, be sure to test your system stability. I suggest running prime95 for at least 12 hours straight. http://www.mersenne.org/freesoft.htm

Good Luck

They say not over 1.7v. Though I've had my 1.8A running at 2.7ghz with 1.75v for close to 2 years now.

well thing is 1.75 didnt help me get over 3ghz so I was wondering if I should dare try more

ahh ok, nope, don't go higher ;)

I've gotten my chip to 3ghz had it on that for a month or so, then it didn't work too well:eek: and had to drop it to 2.7ghz.

best stable i could get with my old 2.53 was 2.9. with 3.0 it would crash after abit..around 1.65v

got a question for ya, off topic
you got a asus p4c800-e right ? whats your mobo temps ?
I also have one and its always kinda hot

Thanks
Dan

right now I don't have the right memory for it so its not o\c but as it is right now its around 32c up to 40c loaded. I hope to order new memory Monday or Tuesday. had it 3.5 one time stable and the temp was 35c to 46c loaded

are those CPU ?
I was wondering about mobo

cpu reads 32c up to 40c loaded and the 875p chip is around 38 i have seen it as high as 50c, but i do have a fan over it, as for other things i would like to get the memory first to O\c it and see where thay stand.

dont you find it odd that the mobo is hotter then the cpu ?
same here and I dont understand why

P.S. you have a fan on the chipset and you get 50deg ???
