Samsung SP1604N quite noisy

I had read reviews on the Samsung SP1604N, and it seemed that it would be a 'silent' drive. Inaudible from my seating position. I installed it, and unfortunatly in my case it is far from it. I set the software acoustic mode to quiet, and that got rid of the seek noise, but the high pitched whine created by the drive spinning is still present. Ive got both asphalt based barrier damping and acoustic foam installed in my case, and this probably helped reduce the volume a few decibels, but it is still audible over my relatively loud case and power supply fans.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Should I be looking into getting an RMA?

I'd RMA it. Too many great reviews about how samsungs have very quiet HDDs.

it depends on the fdb motor that your drive uses and maybe a little bit of luck

I have a 160gig with the quieter motor and for it. drive vibration is pretty bad though
