I was cruzing Ebay for a new card and found this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2777477106&category=40158

I was wondering if this card is worth it, I mean it is a 9800 but do these "4 pipelines that are disabled using the driver software" really exist. Can i just update the driver and run a normal 9800? any feed back would help me out big time! Also if anyone can find a 9800 for around 200 on the web let me know! i'm looking to upgade:D

Most 9800se's dont even have the other 4 pipes, and cannot be enabled. They also have only 128bit mem instead of 256, so its half as fast. You can buy that card for $10 cheaper on newegg.

You actually flash the BIOS but if you check the link I posted in the thread I started above about the guide it says its a 50/50 chance of it modding to a true 9800.

I would never buy a "softmoddable" card from an ebay seller. There is a 98% chance it is a tried but failed mod card. Buy from newegg and like stated above its cheaper anyway.

The card can only be modded into a 9800 if it has the "L" shaped RAM configuration, and AFAIK there were very few SE's produced like this, and obviously the ebay picture is not one of them.
