My mate has a X800 256mb GDDR3 AGP card and wants to Play Splinter Cell Double Agent but can't cause the X800 don't have Shader Model 3.0

Anyways he has found a X1650 with 256mb RAM but it says it's GDDR3 for a AGP version. But other sites we go to only have GDDR2 versions of the X1650 can you get a GDDR3 version in AGP.

Don't waste your time with a 1650. I had one for about two weeks before I returned it for a refund (even though Newegg charges a 15% restock fee and I had to pay to ship it...that's how much it sucked.) The card has no temp. sensor or fan control and the performance isn't that great. I'm gonna get my money back and hold out for an 1800 at least.

I'll let my mate know he'll probably buy it thou and test it see if it's as good and can play Splinter Cell Double Agent. If it can he'll keep it I reckon he will keep it anyways cause his X800 XL only has shader model 2 and he's getting back into gaming.

Since my 6200 is shader model 3 I think I'm hoping it's worth the down grade in SM and the upgrade in memory speed & core and pixels.

Not sure if I'm following you here but it sounds like you'd be getting his x800xl in this case.. yeah it would pretty much murder your 6200, SM3 or no.

As per your question, yeah, the 1650pro AGP model can come in GDDR3 at least according to gpureview.

The 1600-series cards aren't great (low texture units #, 128-bit memory) for sure, but if you need SM3 it should perform adequately. As long as your friend doesn't have amazing expectations and wants to play newer games he should be fine with the card.

He's after playing SC Double Agent I think as long as he has decent graphics and now slow downs he'e fine I can't really say but I don't think he is an extreme gamer.
