Hey people, ive got a problem... i found a post on this before, but it wasnt elaborated on. So i am goign to ask again. I have a 36 gig raptor on SATA 1 and it works fine ( its my OS HD ) And now i just got myself a 160gig SATA WD. its on SATA 2. It is recognized in windows device manager, but nowhere else. And i beleive that for me to recognize it, i woudl need to partition it and format it. But i would like to do this without having to instal PArtition MAgic or anythign like that. I know that when i had both my 80gig IDE's in and one was brand new, windows explorer recognized it and i jsut right clicked and told it to format. But i cant do this with the 160gig SATA, so i need help =s Im using Win XP Pro.

would it have to do with the jumper settings on the back of the drive? or can both the raptor and the 160gig stay on the same jumper setting?

Thanks guys!

I think i figured out a way to do it. By GOing into Admin Tools and partitioning and formating there. This was the first time i has to use that, and i didnt know about it before.

But the questions about the jumpers still stands. Does ti matter where the jumpers are on the SATA drives?
