Seagate's RMA really BAD *turns out beeing really good!!

My drive Seagate 300G sata crashed and I emailed Seagate for RMA, got an answer with RMA nr and send the drive to them for exchange (normaly takes 24-48 hours).

So I did, and they recieved it the 7:th of nov and after lots of mails they still have not shipped out a new drive to me and their only excuse is that they don't have any drives in stock and they don't know when they will have one and I just have to wait for a while!

Hope this is not a normal procedure for them or have someone else been treated the same way?

Seagates RMA process seems better that WD to me. Last month I RMA'd 2 HDD's to WD and when I went to check on the status they were shipped back out, but not to me. The drives were supposed to get shipped to Idaho. One ended up in Canada and the other in KY. So I called them and explained the situation over and over again to the so called "engineer". Finally I thought he understood the issue. Then I received one of the replacement drives with a letter saying if they did not receive my replacement drive they were going to charge me. wtf!?!?! They already received the replacement drive so here we go again trying to explain it to the "engineer". I am awaiting a call back from the supervisor. OMG what a headache for something that should be so simple.

Just thought I would share

I didn't have any issues with Seagates when I RMAd to SCSI drives, took about a week and half total if I remember correctly

I have had to use maxtors RMA a couple times and they are AWESOME, really quickturn around and no BS and they will give you the closest drive available without making you wait

Yeah Seagate says it NORMALY takes 24-48 hours to ship out the drives, that makes me confused how come they dont know what and when they have IN stock!

Wow. When my seagate drive died a year ago, I sent it to them and I had a replacement arrive at my house exactly 1 week after I took the original drive to the post office.

I found Seagate to be a big PITA. Somehow my return(for a customer, mind you), which they said they received, got lost for about a week and a half. It then took a while for them to finally ship the replacement. The whole process ended up taking over three weeks.

Turns out Seagte isn't THAT bad
!
Got the new drive today and it's a 400GB instead of 300 :)

no problems with Seagate RMA's. They usually receive it 2 days after I send it, and I get a replacement drive in about 5 business days.

Whoa! Awesome!

WD? Bad?

I RMA'd a Raptor and I had my new drive in three business days. I didn't even have to send my old drive back, they just used a credit card instead. Amazing RMA service.
Id never buy any WD drive but raptor. The rest of there stuff is crap. Maxtor also sends u the rma befor they recieve it by giving them ur card.
Standered proceedure.

And the girl that that assisted me was nice... very nice voice to :)
