So I'm about to do a pretty large upgrade to my system (moving to an i7-9700k and a Gigabyte Aorus Master once I save up enough) and first up is my PSU as my current one (Corsair TX750) is about 10 years old and I'd rather replace it before it starts to crap out on me. I'm currently down to two based on reviews (johnnyguru, amazon, newegg, tom's hardware, etc.) but they're so close that I'm down to things like cable length and in-cable capacitors as the only real differences. And yes I know 750w is pretty overkill for both my current and future system, but I like having headroom for future upgrades or whatnot. Oh and I'll probably just stick with Gold 80+ efficiency for the price difference mostly

What are all your thoughts between these two?

Thanks for the help!

At that quality level (both are very good units) I would decide based on the warranty (Seasonic 12 years, EVGA 10 years) or the jonnyguru review scores (EVGA 9.8 Seasonic 9.7) While the EVGA scored a perfect 10 for performance on jg, and the Seasonic a 9.5, the difference was the power-on spike exhibited by the Seasonic unit. Otherwise ripple and regulation were outstanding for both. Since my local power source is prone to surges/brownouts/blackouts and none too smooth voltage fluctuations I would personally go with the EVGA due to the aforementioned power-on spikes. If I lived someplace with decent utility companies I'd go with the Seasonic. My $.02

AH! Now I'm even more torn. I was leaning towards the EVGA Supernova G3 after Alaric's post, because I actually don't know the quality of my electrical infrastructure, it scored SLIGHTLY higher on johnnyguru, and I noticed in his sig he's got the Supernova one generation back. But then I noticed in Zerileous's sig he's got the Seasonic Prime Ultra and it's got me right back in the middle between the two...

I do appreciate the comments though. I'll eventually land on a decision!

Thanks,

6 of one, half dozen of the other...........both are high-quality Tier 1 PSUs and you will never notice a difference between them. Slightly higher on JG means little.

Go with whatever is cheaper. Seriously. This is not a difficult decision as you cannot go wrong with either.

Ok, that's actually very helpful to my detail oriented mind that's having so much difficulty with this decision. I'll see which one's cheaper and go with that. I think it's the EVGA currently but I'll see what it is in a week or so when I actually buy it.

Thanks!

tbh I chose a Seasonic because that's the brand I always admired but never had the budget for when I was messing with PCs as a kid. Of course I did the research to make sure they were still top notch, but yeah, it just came down to personal preference.
