Hi All,

I'm looking to purchase an Intel based motherboard that is STABLE. I'm really not interested in overclocking, but do want stuff like DMA100 and the VIA chipset. I don't really want sound built into the motherboard, since I feel like getting a seperate one would be better/more upgradeable... I DO want to buy a motherboard from a vendor that spends a lot of time and energy upgrading and coming up with BIOS fixes frequently. Abis looks good, but I can't find one that fits my needs perfectly. I want a 700 Mhz (or so) processor...

Any help is appreciated!

start by listing your particular needs. if your not interested in overclocking than my guess would be any old mobo will do. there all stabile tell you start running them out of spec. i have the via chipset on my vp6 and im under the impresion that i would be better off with something else for memory bandwith. good luck, theres a million boards out there

If you are completely not interested in overclocking, then the Intel boards are the best hands down...as a matter of fact, they sacrifice a little speed for stablilty...and as such are not overclockers best freinds. if you want agp4x, and naitive ata100, then go with something with the "solano" chipset...but don't expect too much upgradeability from any current intel based boards of any manufacturer, because the speculation around the net is intel will change their socket designs for both the new PIII, and the newer P4 to come out later this year, I don't know about stability of the AMD products of late, but I sure haven't seen too many new owners of AMD based machines, wanting to throw them out.
