i have a Seiko 4 line backlit lcd and I'm ready hook it up...except it has no serial connector. Some guy I talked to on an LCd forum was really unhelpfull and said he didnt think it was even serial connectable. so heres some pic's, what do you think?

I dont have the ability to do the soldering that I think is involved, is there anyone that would do this for me for a fee, or a tank 'o' gas???:p

I got lucky a month or so ago and got a similar LCD with an old server case I bought (;)) and yours does indeed look like a parallel connection, as was mine.

The soldering is not tough really, although on mine it was a bit confusing as I had a slightly non-standard lcd. But it works :)

The link stool gave was one of the ones that helped me out and should be fine for your lcd.

I think you probably could do it if you try and I would be more than willing to help steer you through it if you want.

oh man, I think I've gone and done it this time!!!, I decided to solder it myself and I hooked up the anode/cathode without a pot to regulate voltage to the backlight- It lit up for a couple of mins then went out when I tryed to use a prog to do the readout thing, now when i power up, I get nothing from the LCD.
Did I blow the Backlight?
