OUTSTANDING

This game marked the beginning of my venture into cyberpunk. WAY back in the 80's FASA produced a little RPG know as ShadowRun. A D6 rpg that combines all the races and magic of Dungeons and Dragons with al lthe High flying technology and neural integrated cyberspace surfing off the year 2050.

They even went so far as to create a detailed history of the then present time all the way up to 2050 (and AMAZINGLY its all coming true... well, except for the unique genetic expression of 10% of the world turning into Orcs :) Or the following final cycle of the Aztec calender that returns magic to the earth as well as dwarves, elves and oh yah dragons..)

There was a SNES game called shadowrun that was exactly based on the RPG but of course being SNES was not much to look at (although I played it for DAYS :))

Do not know if there are any other Shadowrun/Cyberpunk fans out there but just in case I thought this deserved some attention :)

(It's part of the Windows Vista Gaming alliance or something like that)

Hmm reading more... it seems I spoke to soon. Since it is an FPS its not really going to be a game at all... Just another COD/CounterStrike/Rainbow6 Whatever game thats good for releasing stress but not really enjoyable :(

HOWEVER.. I did find the REAL shadowrun game that is going to have me doing an online game for the first time ever!

This link is for the ACTUAL shadowrun game, but it wont be ready with Vista..

(Well I mean PAYING to game online..MMO style)

Yeah I loved the Sega Genesis version a while back. I just loved hacking into computer systems and stealing secrets in a building, then fighting people outside on the steet. A really cool game. It was hard to start out but once you got past the middle point you became too powerfull and the game went by too fast until you solve it. I really liked the game so much I played it twice, once as a hacker and then as a brawler...fighting your way through that game sucked and it was too slow.

However, the new version being a FPS doesnt excite me. Im sick of all the FPS because they are all basically the same. I want something different just like the original Shadowrun game.

Yah at least someone is working on an RPG version of it. I prefer single player, but if its shadow run I may just be willing to try out an MMO.

All the hardcore fans of the game hate to see it turn into another generic FPS. I checked it out a long time go and the forum is littered with old school players ****ed off lol.

Awww man I remeber the old SNES Shadowrun game! Man I spent countless hours on that game. I remember when Deus Ex came out on PC I thought it was like the FPS adaptation of Shadowrun with not so much magic.

My first exposure was the SNES game, which I liked very well and played quite a bit.

At some point later, I had some friends who I played some various pen and paper RPG's with. We did try playing Cyberpunk a bit, and I seemed to like it pretty well. Unfortunately, the rest of the group screwed around too much and made the GM mad. After a couple sessions, the GM made sure the entire group was killed and that was the end of Cyberpunk.

The new game being an FPS is a big turn off....maybe it will turn out to be a great FPS, but there's just no way an FPS can be everything that a "Shadowrun" game could be. The MMO...I dunno. I am skeptical of that, too. It has better potential, at least. A Neverwinter Nights type format would probably be the best thing. A 3D RPG with multiplayer capabilities and a DM/GM client. Let people really role-play.
