Hmm.... very very interesting problem I have. My Athlon is finally up, she's running. yay! set everything up, installed all the drivers and updates...whee, fun. Everything works. Okay, plug in my other PCI cards (Ethernet is only one in, Video is AGP). Soundblaster is in - crossing fingers. She works - YAY!!! Everything is hunky dorry...
AND THEN...
Cousin desides to see what unplugging powersupply will do while system is hot (ARGH!) nukes one of my RAID0ed drives, I call IBM - they'll cover the warrenty (I'm not OCed yet), but still - I lost everything. 500 dirty words later...
Okay, reformated - half the space but it'll do. Install everything, just like before and... install SBLive! Drivers... "Windows has detected new hardware. Multimedia device." Then Multimedia turns to SBLive family... Then... BSOD. I get *no* sound whatsoever. Ideas? (She was working fine before, and I have changed nothing but removing the now ruined harddrive that made half my RAID).

Oh - this might help:

Abit KT7a-RAID
Athlon 1.4 GHz on 133 FSB
256 Megs of PC150 Cas2 MUSHKIN HPR3 RAM
Windows 98se
VisionTek GeForce3
3Com 10/100 Ethernet
and a not-so-functioning SBLive!Plat

She's alive She's alive Shes.... dead? (Paddles! CLEAR!!)

I find that Sblives dont like beings in the top PCI (under agp) or the bottom that much. they are IRQ hogs, so they cant be at the end, they need to be in the middle. Try slot #3, it's waht i did to fix my SBlive!

I'd of tried that if it weren't for the fact that she worked in that slot before. I also did some IRQ balancing - the SBLive has #5 all to herself, so that's not the problem.
Old method first, current second - I've tried both.
AGP - GeForce3
PCI1 - Empty
PCI2 - Ethernet
PCI3 - Empty
PCI4 - SBLive
PCI5 - Empty
PCI6 - Empty
ISA1 - Empty

AGP - GeForce3
PCI1 - Empty
PCI2 - SBLive
PCI3 - Empty
PCI4 - Ethernet
PCI5 - Empty
PCI6 - Empty
ISA1 - Empty

I hate it when stuff like this happens. I have never had a problem that bad though. Good luck in getting the problem solved. I had a messed up Asus V6600 Deluxe that I had to rma it over 3 weeks ago. Still not here. Arrrgggghhhhh. I can't wait.
