No offence whatsoever.... I really just feel bad for you. Thats all. I had hoped that you could get a 6600GT for that killer setup. a 9600 is gonna be a real thorn in your side :(

What I was trying to say is that any S939 CPU will overclock far past 3500 speeds so its relitivly pointless to get one :(. If there is a way to return the 3500 I would. I really really would.

I appologise if I came across as being gruff, I really only had your best interests in mind. I didnt realize this was already a done deal :(

Ah yeah no worries, you guys have helped me plenty more than I had even expected :burn: I'm going to see what I can do with the 3500+. I will probably just end up selling the 9600xt for slightly lower than retail (seeing how it hasn't been opened yet) and get a 6600GT 8xAGP after my next paycheck comes in.

Speaking of which, it seems that only one company makes 6600GT with AGP bus: xFX. Are they any good? It sells for $240 on Newegg.

Yes, they are very good. Not only do they perform well, but they overclock nicely, too. Furthermore, if you bought your items online, you should be able to RMA any unwanted items.

your links are dead but $240 is a bit high for a 6600gt when the pci-e verson is $199. If you decide to keep the 3500+ the 9800pro is alot more forgiving of your budget and you can get one for $150 on ebay and its more than 2x the performance. sell your LCD and get a real 21" crt, I paid $230 for mine over a year ago and no LCD costing more can even hold a candle to my crt! I can do 2048x1536 res too.

1. upgrade to crt
2. upgrade to 9800pro
3. enjoy your games at 1600x1200 with ease

Heh call me picky but after getting a LCD, it's hard to go back to CRT. The strain on the eyes is almost eliminated (I have to do tons of reading online on campus reserve websites for research and assignments and whatnot) and it saves tons of space on my miniscule desk. I would still rather save up for a good 19" LCD with decent vertical refresh; 1240x1024 is plenty big for me. As for the 9800pro, $150 doesn't really cut it on ebay; after shipping it sells for around $180-200 range, and shipping is hardly $10 for it.

Also, what the heck does this mean?

+12V@16/28A (on the Fortron 530W)

Does that mean it's on two rails? Because PSUs that were on 2 rails had a V2@something/something, whereas that is just one V.

lcds may be better for reading but crts win hands down for real gaming. If you cant afford a 9800pro, get a 9700pro on ebay, even with shipping it should be as much as what your 9600xt cost, in otherwords you got ripped off on the 9600xt, I paid that much for a real 9700pro but resold it cause I have a 9500np softmodded anyway.

The 530w shares power between the 5v and 12v, one of the reasons one pot controls both rails. When the 5v is loaded down, 16-18a is available on the 12v. When the 5v is being lightly drawn, as with a P4 or A64 system, the PSU has closer to 28a available for the 12v.

Either way, it's a very solid unit - I got mine because I currently have a very demanding 5v system, but I also want to go to A64 soon. Thanks to those graphs though, I also want a 6600GT. Wonder if I can live without food for a while ;)
