Ok guy!!! I just put this baby together last nite and I'm getting idle temp 45C and 51C with Prime95 level 10 after 8 hours. The sys temp is 25C.
Here is the spec:
Abit NF7-S V2
XPM-2600+
Corsiar 3200 ( CAS2.5)
Current setting is 205MHz x 12. (2.5.3.3.11)
Zalman 7000A-AlCu with Arctist Silver 5.
The votage on CPU is 1.725 in setting but only reading at 1.68 in AbitEQ
Could go higher on FBS but need another PS

Well, back to main question. Is that temp is too high? Did I do a bad job on heatsink? Should I reseat it? Or the Arctist Silver 5 is not kick in yet? (Remember read it some where). Thanks.

I'd reseat your heatsink and see what happens. I wouldn't expect too much from that Zalman, but your temps look good considering how high you've overclocked your CPU. Also, make sure you're not using too much AS5: a little AS5 goes a long way.

and WELCOME TO THE FORUMS!!!

Sounds about right for that OC. But it also sounds like you aren't kicking enough heat off the proc into the case. Case temp too low, proc temp too high.

Try reseating -- might have too much AS5.

BTW: 2460mhz, niccce oc!

Ok guyz!!! Thanks alot for your respond. I'm gonna try to reseat it now. Hopefully, the temp will drop. BTW, I got this Zalman because I thought it was good. But would u guy prefer SLK over this? Oh well, can't return it anymore :(.

Its not a bad heatsink -- the fan on it is just poor. And you can't replace it like a normal 'sink.

Your oc is excellent, so I wouldn't worry about the sink... just curious what you could do with an SP97. :D

The zalman IS good for it's noise level. Try to find an other HSF that has comparable noise level to cooling, and I bet you won't. The only thing comparable is likely a thermalright SLK/SP with a 92mm fan, which would cost more in total and provide close performance.

On that subject, have you used other HSFs? How does your zalman's flatness compare?

Ahem...

Athlon XP 2500+ (200x11) 1.75
SP-97 w/ Thermaltake fan
Abit NF7-S
Mushkin Blueline 512MB PC3200 (3-3-3-8)

CPU: 40C Idle Case: 25C

I wish it could do better, but I'm looking into watercooling to get that sucker down.
