Should I use a fan for a Slot 1 SEC Pentium II cpu?

I recently obtained a Pentium II 233 mhz that I then took home and opened to scrutinize its components and set up. To my surprise it only had 1 fan in the entire case. The fan is a 120 mm fan on the PSU that draws air through a plastic duct off of the slot 1 cpu. The slot 1 cpu does have a rather large heat sink onit but no fan. Should I bother putting a fan on the backsaide of the slot 1 cpu? I did try the mobo monitor but could not get it to work for my machine. I did place an 80 mm fan in the top of the case in the place a fan should have been (and wasn't).
