I have my AK31a, and I put my Voodoo 3 card in cause my ATI 8500 was back ordered. It worked fine. Now I put my 8500 in... and Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep. Notice, that is a long looped beep. Noting posts! Is the cad DOA? I also put a new cooler on the CPU which running a slow 80mm fan. Maybe it thinks the RPM's are too low. I need help!

First thing to try is pulling and re-seating the vid card. You also may need to completely uninstall any previous vid drivers and adaptors. I don't beleive you'd get a beep if it were too low a speed on the fan. This mobo doesn't have the FOC feature.
Let us know how it goes :)

Unsuccessfull.

I ordered a new mobo, ram, power supply, CPU, R8500, Sound Card, and CPU cooler.

I received everthing but the cooler and the R8500 which came aday later.

Being impatient, I stuck a coolermaster HSF I had used on my tbird 1.4 for a while on the new 1600+. This booted up great... Nice temps, and all.

Today, I popped the new CPU cooler on, and slid the R8500 in, booted up, all the fans on high. But then I hear a long beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep ... beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep coming from my Shuttle AK31a... I couldn't firgure it out... So I put my old Voodoo3 in that worked before with the old Coolermaster, and I get the same beeps.

I tried the CPU on my A7v 133 and it worked fine.

NO CLUE HERE?!

Possibilities:

Maybe the RAM went bad while swapping the video card an cooler.

Maybe my AGP slot when bad

Maybe the motherboard went bad

I need some input... and help!

do you put your mobo on a case and try too put the video card on a case
maybe you should try too release the mobo on a casing and try too put the videocard outside the case

Im leaning towards the RAM being the problem. It worked before. <<sigh>>

Sorry I hadn't found your topic before all that, a long uninterupted beep means a RAM problem. You might have jossled it loose when you were putting in your 8500, and might have even died as a result of that(did you have to give the card a harder shove than usual to get it in? You might have dislodged the ram...I did it two weeks ago :p )

So anyway, it is your RAM

I've been messing with the ram for hours. I guess I killed it. It worked before though! Damn I'm an idiot... Newegg has me in good hands though.

beeeeeeeep

Same problem on my old Ak31... I knocked a resisitor off the back side of the board and caused the NB to fail, hence the ram error. Look around the bottom of your case and see if any small parts are sitting there that should be on the motherboard.

I dont see anything, and I don't think I hit anything. But this could be a reason my RAM has mystyriously gone "bad" Yikes...

I never slipped while putting the HSF on... We'll see when I get the ram tomorrow.

I'm gonna RMA the board...

Tested some ram I bought locally and it didn't work.

Now, should I RMA it to Newegg or Shuttle? It's oinly been 2 days.

Help!
