Heya Everyone. Anyone know of any decent sources for Tygon or Versilon Silver tubing by the foot?

Been searching for a good part of the Morning. A couple by-the-foot places seems to be perpetually out of stock. Other, only sell in 50ft rolls.... ugh.

Thanks,

K

Wow I haven't heard of Tygon in a long time. I remember Masterkleer as well. Well known brands from back in the day. Primoflex is the go-to tubing now. Unsure if they have the silver color you're looking for tho.

Unsure if you'd want to go the clear tubing with silver dye route. I wouldn't recommend that route as I've had issues with dyes. People still use it tho

Heh, the color really doesnt matter, the Tygon and Versilon silver-lined tubings are anti-microbial. I dont run anything other than distilled water in my rig. The anti-microbial spec is all I'm after, dont really care who makes it :)

Thanks :) Heh, I use McMaster-Carr for machine/tooling supplies. Grainger does have it, but only in big rolls.

Anti-microbial tubing is common enough, just a lot places dont sell it by the foot any more apparently. 50' and 100' rolls are common. A friend suggested Clearflo AG-47, its surprisingly easy to find by the foot, and meets spec.

As I mentioned earlier, I dont run anything in my loop other than distilled water, as it will maintain the best thermal transfer properties compared to water with any additive (biocides, dye, etc). The anti-microbial property of the tubing is important, as it prevents bacteria from growing in the system.

I've run my current Tygon Silver anti-microbial tubing since 2013, nothing has ever grown in the system, and the components have been clean as a whistle during water changes.

I totally forgot about McMasters. Normally I use them for hard to find hardware, but never thought about tubing. I get my tubing from amazon.

And the sellers on Amazon get it from Alibaba. These days if I want cheap Chinese crap, I just buy it direct on Aliexpress and bypass all the middle men trying to take a cut. If I need specific quality, then I go to reputable resellers like McMaster.

Just wanted to follow up on my findings with the AG-47 tubing. Its decent tubing all around, but its supposed anti-microbial properties are non-existent  It does nothing to stop growth in the loop. Tygon Silver and Versilon Silver both have embedded silver, so theres constant ion exposure, never had a problem with either. Whatever AG-47 uses (which isnt silver) doesnt cut it. Had to clean/flush out the rad and block, and glad I did, not pretty.

Since I couldnt find Tygon or Versilon Silver anywhere by the foot, went to an ultra grade silicon tubing and a silver coil insert setup.
