Im a newbie so dont laugh! I have a pentium 1, 133mhz... this is my toy that i can do whatever to... if i lower the fsb and put up the multiplier to 3, i can get it to 180mhz... but i heard this does not improve performance, if anything, haampers performance... is that true or will it improve performance?
this is the only way i can get it to overclock, as the motherboard doesnt have support for higher fsb speeds....
2) also, it doesnt even post when i put up the multiplier to 3 when it's at 66mhz fsb, so does that mean it wont be able to take that speed even with better cooling?
thanx

I am assuming at default it runs at 2x66 but the fsb wont run above 66

if you lower the fsb to 60 but up the processor you have just lowered the speed at which everything talks to each other

It is about a 9% drop in fsb but 35% increase in cpu speed. Will these 2 offset each other? I don't know. You could always run some benchmarks, then try the overclock then run somemore benchmarks and see what you get.
