Single non-crossfire 7970 stutter?

I've been doing some research and would like to know the latest on the following:

This site shows high frametime variance (similar but less than xfire) in games such as Alan Wake, Far Cry 3 and Hitman (Feb 16).


However, on may 2nd the following was reported:

"AMD Radeon Graphics
.@ILoveHitMarkers We're anticipating a beta release in the June/July timeframe. I should note that single-GPU pacing is already fixed. ^RH"

Does that mean that those ugly graphs from the first link don't look like that on single 7970's any more or will single 7970's also benefit from the "prototype" AMD drivers coming out?
 
All the reviews I've read recently that show frame time all show single cards as pretty much the same, and very low at that. Tom's Hardware is one that includes it in their GPU reviews now.
