skeptic dosent get how folding helps, help me help him!

i'm talking my friend and he says he dosen't get how folding helps cure/help cancer and etc. plz help me~Alex

Proteins fold. It's part of nature. When they mis-fold, it causes diseases like cancer and stuff. Stanford is studying how proteins fold, why they mis-fold, and how to get proteins to fold properly, thus curing diseases. This is how it helps.

Oh, and you can also add that the reson it's distributed computing is because there's no super computer that can process all of the information on its own.
