Is that why when you touch a hot pot on the stove it hurts right away? Could there be some way to make artifical skin into a heatsink? Someone help me out on this, because it seems that skin would be the best heat conductor!

I'm not a doctor, even though I play one on tv, but i would say the reason it hurts right away is because the epidermis is rather thin and the nerver endings are in the skin...

LOL:D
NEW SWIFTECH HS!!!!
SKIN-462A, with 80mm Detla, comes with AMD tattoos!!!
it would be scary.....skin HS:eek:
i think your are feeling pain right away is because your skin is so thin, and your nerve is located next to it....you can try putting a very thin sheet of aluminum, put your finger on it and light a lighter under.....i bet you will feel pain very fast too!!!:D :D

Don't forget that you're liquid cooled, so the heat transfers even quicker. ;)

Nihili, Thats pretty funny, but I have a question for you.

Did you shave or cut off a portion of the beard of wisdom ? ?

Reason I ask is that humans aren't watercooled, we are waterwarmed  Uless we are Overclocked then we expunge the heat

Well, if your skin was not a good heat conductor, you wouldn't feel sooooo much heat on your nerves...am I right? Anyone a science wiz here, lol

You know, if skin were such a good conductor, then since the human body is liquid cooled (and heated, it's both really) you should be able to put your hand right on your CPU and have it stay a nice stable 39 degrees C or so as you boot and play games .... try it

I mean you've got the waterblock and radiator all in one, 2m^2 of surface area to radiate, and the pump shoots blood like 20ft if you cut a major artery, sounds better than some peoples crappy metal cooling systems don't it? ;)

Or maybe you'd like to consider this, if skin was a GREAT conductor, you'd touch a hot pot and your whole arm would feel slightly warm, then your body would, then you'd feel hot all over, then your finger would start to hurt!

Lap your finger a bit, and apply a thin layer of AS3.:D

I wish I thought to explain it like that...
I think this calls for an experiment...
And probably alcohol...

Maybe narcotics...

Definatly pain killers...

Well, since the interior of your body is (hopefully) about 98.6F, then unless you live some place very warm your body will give off heat. True, your skin is warmed by the blood, but overall the effect is to keep your body from overheating by passing warmth to the extremeties where it can convect away.

You should go and get a CRAZY sunburn, then when your skin peels off, use that to cover the core, and put a heatsink on top and see how that works.

We are actually waterCOOLED when we overclock ourselves (sweat) we don't have to worry about shorting anything out though.

Ah but if your core temp rises to high your brain starts to "short out."

It might hurt even more if your skin was metal. Here's the test, first you coat yourself in copper, then drill a hole through your finger for the thermistor...

On a side note, people make great antennas too.

Another side note, you could just hire a guy to hold his finger against the CPU.
TIm: What do you do Hank?
