I,m eager to upgrade with minimum$ at hand , have read most all of the posts over the last couple days. main use for home video and pvr over to DVD and family surfs' but very little gaming if at all. Looking for absolute stability now but also having tweakability down the road. I've been leaning towards a Abit Ai7 with a SL6z3 or sl6z5 with maybe 2x256DDR to get me to 3g? Is it doable? Strickly stock air with a couple case fans? Anybody know if ZZF or Newegg is currently stocking either of those MO steppings? Thanks

This should be posted in the Intel thread.

As for setup the AI7 is a great board from what I've been hearing about. As for ram the size of the ram won't matter its all about the brand and speed of the ram. Also the chipset of the ram also.

With either of those steppings you should have a nice chance to get around 3.4 if not higher. Its all about how lucky you feel :D. As for stock don't know where people carry it right now but i know ZZF had SL6Z3's a little while ago.

BTW Welcome to the Forums :D

I would recomend building it yourself, If you wish to tweek. Then you have more freedom to play.

AZZO.com is the only one guarantying SL6Z3's that I'm aware of, and they aint cheap $219.99 + shipping, I am told Zipzoomfly has helped a few people get them, you need to call them and ask if they can look at their inventory for one for you to buy.

Yes, that is the rumor. I would try it and go with a 2.4c M0. It should give you plenty of room for some oc., although not guaranteed you will get 3.4GHz.. but not guaranteed either with the 2.8c part.
