SLi Chip - Install for single video card?

My Abit A8N came with what looks like a memory chip called an SLi chip or whatever. I didn't install it because I only run one 7800gt. What is recommended? Should I install it on "single" mode only for stability? Just curious.

Only if your running two cards in sli should you change it, if not just run in single mode.
