I'm building a small Via Eden based home entertainment box.I'd like to use one or two slim, slot load IDE dvd drives.

Anyone know of any?I have been looking all over, just figured i'd give you guys a shot....

Best thing to do is buy laptop drives- most places sell mini IDE> IDE adapters for about $10US.

bit more expensive than normal drives- but if you after slim- then they are perfect.

try Newegg, I'm from the UK so I can tell you any decent US/Canada based sites.

OK.....been searching for a few days for one, but i have found nothing so far.I guess no-one makes a slim, slot loading DVD drive.

Who makes a decent slim tray load dvd drive that is IDE compatable? I'd like to fit 2 drives in the space one would normally use, if possible......

Also, most DVD/CD drives are 7.5" long(deep)......are there any that are shorter?

Thanx guys!

Yes, i have been looking at the pioneer slot load dvd drive.I'd really prefer to have a slim drive though.Nobody makes slim AND slot, so i need to find a good SLIM DVD drive.....even tray load. :(

Do apples use an IDE interface? Or one that could be adapted? I wonder how much one is gonna cost.........told the wife that this lil project was only gonna cost a few hundred....:D

I honestly have no idea what they use for those...

This IS Apple... only god knows wtf their hardware looks like/does. :D
