What's the best slot 1 mobo now ? I was thinking of Asus
P3V4X.I Have a damm Celeron 266 which I have to use first till i get enough money to buy
a Pentium 3.I might even just overclock the damm 266C and just live with a 450Mhz Celeron.Do you guys know of any NEW Asus Slot 1 Motherboards ? Is socket 370 better than Slot 1 ?Will Intel discontinue slot 1? Pls recommend some good slot 1 boards.

Thanks.

I got a P34VX about 2 months ago and it's great. No problems at all with it. Has a bunch of great features and easy to work on. I do need to get rid of this Katami.

P34VX
P3-500 @620
256 megs PC100 Kingston
Maxtor 20 gig 7200
Globalwin Cooling w/ arctic silver
Sound Blaster Live
ATI Rage

intel pretty much is letting slot1 got the way of the dodo. i didn't like the p3v4x. it had me believing 140fsb was my top end for my pIII 650. with an abit be6-II i was able to get up to 153fsb. and better temps to boot. i prefer slot1 as you can put in a beefier cooling solution on it (not to mention less issues with condensation with extreme cooling). my next mobo will prob be an abit sh6, as it is the only 815 mobo i know of that is slot one. i know my geforce will be happier not having to do 100mhz agp.

I also have the p3v4x, first with a 667 oced to 750 (150fsb) with 512-576mb pc 133 ram. and now a 700e oced to 1085 (also 150 fsb)
I really like the board

Abit SH6. 815E Solano chipset

I have one with a PIII 866E running at 160 FSB right now. Great board!

Got to agree with skip on this one...The SH6 rawks, only dissapointment is the lack of i/o settings.
So far I have had this board to 159mhz fsb with both a PIII 600E(cBO, and a 700E(cCO, and I was paranoid at 1115mhz @ 1.8v with my 700, so I backed it down to a respectible 1059mhz...so I have no idea of either the boards limit, or the cpu for that matter, but it is the most stable slot one platform I ever used

It's ME and i'm confused?!? What's it goin 2 be ? Asus p3v4x or what ??? HELP!!

Flip a coin. The P3V4X is a great board also. Memory bandwidth is a little better on the SH6. The SH6 is also ATA100. I'm impressed with the SH6.

So I guess I will take the execellent P3V4X
then. Thanks Skip. BTW are there any new
slot 1 mobo's by Asus that is better, newer or
is goin 2 come out soon? Thanks again to all of you guys for your time and help.

3 last questions how do you guys put those darn pics under your names? also what r the
specs of Abit's SH6 ?How do you become a senior member here?
Thanks a GiGaherthz [3][/3]

No, Asus will not have mobo better than the Abit's.. That ain't happening in the performance comparison wise..
Asus is more like... trouble-free, user-friendly, and high compatibiltiy in hardware integration to its mobo... Abit is little more sensitive in some hardware compatibility but if you know what you are doing with the mobo, their mobos can be the killer. of course they wife out Asus, hehehe...

The senior members are selected by dan. The criteria he uses is based on: maturity, knowledge, and level of participation in the forum.

Find a graphic you want, preferably a .jpg, size it no larger than 100x100, save it, and then browse to upload it in your profile settings.

Has anyone with the SH6 have problems with a device called the "PCI SYSTEM MANAGEMENT BUS" ?? Keeps trying to load and I can't find a driver for it. Help, is this important or not ?? what is it for??

For old Slot 1 mobos the company that made the best BX boards hands down was Aopen. Abit was less stable, ASUS had fewer features. Obviously, more recently Aopen has fallen off the map with the mobo arms race that has been going on. But my AX6BC was the best that money could buy way back when people were crashing Abit BX6 mobos...

I highly recommend the SH6 too, but there is a compatibility problem with adaptec 29/39xxx series cards (bios 2.57). Hopefully the next bios update will resolve the problem.

Just Shoot : I do not get the problem u mentioned with my SH6. It ran fine in both Win98Se and ME.

I have never had that problem with my SH6, but I loaded all the intel drivers, right after format, I think before loading windoz...I would try loading the intel drivers from your cd, and any others that apply, and see if that helps.
And Sanjeev, if you are so set on the Asus, then why ask? Personaly I think you are making a mistake with the asus, but your mind is made up already, and I'm sure it will be everything you want, but it will never be the slot one that the SH6 is.....The Sh6 is the best/last great slot one mobo.

OK OK OK OK OK OK OK OK OK pls Tell me what is sooooo great about the SH6 dat you guys say it
is the best slot1 mobo ?pls explain.

Thanks,NFS.[4][/4]
