I have a slot 1 orb, and it has these "wings" for lack of a better word on each side of the h.s. and these are just there for the slot 1 retention clip, and being there, they cover my cache chips on my katmai PIII 450, and I was thinking of hacking, or hacksawing these wings off, as it will allow a little air to get to the chips where they get none now...I have never used any retention mechanism for my alpha, so I don't think weight is a prob, but I don't know if it will make much of a dent in the cooling ability of the all important core...any opinons welcome
