I picked-up a cheap SOYO sloket to run a 566@850 in my p2p rev1.02 MB. On this revision MB the lowest voltage you can get is 1.8v. This sloket does not support voltage selection. Is there a way to use the old tape trick on A119, A121, and B119 or other pins to force the 566 to ask for 1.8v from MB? I did this for an old 300a@450 for 2.2v. The only info I have found relates back to that era processors, not the newer Celerons.

PS: Or should I just buy a good sloket?

The newer coppermine compatable slockets are costing between $10 and 15 now, which isn't a huge outlay of cash.

And its a lot easier to move jumpers around, than to wire the pins together on the back.

Good slockets;

Soltek SL02A++
Abit !!!
MSI MASTER 2.0
Asus and Iwill make good ones also, but darned if I can ever remember their model numbers.....

I ordered the cheapo because it was the only one available from the supplier I was purchasing a number of other items from. If this can be done, it would be quicker, and I am not afraid of soldering iron. How about just pointers to the coppermine voltage select pins for 1.6 -1.8. I have reference for 1.8v and higher. Just not the lower voltages for Coppermine.

Found some data on voltage selection for coppermine celeron, but decided not go forward and ground the pins. An Abit sloket is now on the way, and I will have jumper settings for vcore.

Good move. Better than possibly turning your Celeron into a keychain.

Definitely. The slocket will allow more versitility. So much easier to change the setting than pulling the hsf and chip if you want to adjust the vcore.
