Ok, first i figured i'd post this in video section, since it isn't due to the monitors themselfs, but something with the video card.

i'm running a 6800GS.

Basicly, all games and such on the 2nd monitor run ungodly slow. the framerates are HORRIBLE.

if i take ATI-Tool, and turn on the "show 3D View " on my Main monitor, I get in the 250 - 300 FPS range.

but if i move it over to the other monitor, I'll only get about 50 FPS.

I'v been trying to figure out WHY its doing this, but i can't figure it out.

i'm not sure if its something to due with my card limiting the 2nd monitor, or if something is screwed up.

OH, my main monitor is on the DVI output with a DVI-D-SUB adaptor, because my video card is screwed up, and won't display anything via DVI. i HAVE to use an adaptor ( dunno why, i guess its just borked ).

my 2nd monitor is plugged into the D-Sub output on the video card.

any help?

any help?

sorry if its a dumb question and all. i just can't figure it out.

i can have NOTHING else running, and then put a game on the 2nd monitor, and it gets HORRIBLE FPS. and it does it, even does it at lower resolutions, and even in window mode.

just trying to figure out my problem, so i can play both of my accounts of Eve-online at the same time.

any one have any clue?

If you switch the cables from one monitor to the other, does the slow frame rate problem move over too?

yeah, i switch the cables around. still having the same problem.

basicly, the 2nd monitor ( non Defult monitor ) gets insane slowdowns.

i'm just wondering if the card automaticly puts a cap on the 2nd output when 2 monitors are hooked up.

but i don't understand WHY it would have that. i mean, it would be nice if it was an OPTION to turn off and on.

why couldn't i play 2 non-GPU intensive games on each monitor at once?

i know there will be some slow-down when running 2 games at once. but this is INSANE. that, and it slows down even if only one game is running on the 2nd monitor.

i'v been going over every option in the Nvidia settings, and i'm still confused. but, i'm still looking.

Set your second monitor as your Primary monitor in Display properties. Now everything will show up smoothly on your "secondary" display. All your graphical processing power is reserved for your primary display.

I get the same issue with my 8800GTX. Somethin in the nVidia drivers. 2nd monitor blows ***. Roughly half the frame rates on monitor 2 versus monitor 1.

well holy crap....that actually worked!

Damn, THANKS A TON MAVIRYK!!!! you have been a LIFE SAVER!!

now i can run both instances of eve at once without a single problem!

thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!! :p

hmmm...actually it didn't work the way i thought...there's a catch..

I have to load the game on one of the monitors first.

THEN, i change which monitor is my "defult", and suddenly both monitors have full power.

if i try to change them while the game ISN'T running ( or anything GPU-intensive ), it doesn't work, and i'm stuck to where i originally was.

but, at least its a temp. fix for now. i can just easily right click the desktop, change which monitor is my main, and get full power to both sides.

i'm mainly worried about only this one game anyways. though i still believe we should have the options of power distributation.

well, its a temp fix, will i can either get a cheap PCI video card that can run Eve. Or when i do a full PC upgrade, i'll just get dual Video cards, not put them in SLI, so i can use dual monitors.

I've always wondered about the specifics of this, i.e. if there are ways of getting even power for each display, or setting some kind of priority or something.

It's interesting. How do games with dual screen work? I've never tried one.
