Smart UPS 420 cabling question

I ordered this cable last night after my friend gave me his spare UPS. UPS works great but need the cable to use the shutdown features, etc...

On the APC site they don't list this cable on the XP Compatibility list... (I actually can't find this cable on ANY compatibility list)

So I am wondering if I'm SOL or will the serial cable still work?

Okay, three posts is a forum-etiquette no-no, but I'm doing it anyway!! [for sake of having this for the forums database] lol

I got the serial cable, and windows XP does the rest... end of story!
