ok has anyone got working either of the 2 major snes emulators under X86_64 yast has a snes9x package i installed it and i can set the options but it doesnt sucessfully run any of my roms. i downloaded the zsnes source but i cant get the program to run. i got through ./configure and make(with alot of notes about things not compatable with X86_64) and tried again in 32bit eumlated mode and it told me that my console isnt compatable with X86_64 what a trip.

i don't know an answer to your specific question, but this is just another reason why 64-bit isn't really worth it. Desktop systems with less than 4gb of ram will see little to no benefit running 64bit over 32bit. 64bit still seems to have problems with some packages even tho most distro's have cleared them as being stable.

It's counterproductive for me to suggest that you drop back and reinstall your system using the 32bit or i386 release, but unless you have a specific 64-bit requirement, it simply makes more sense.
