...gamespot?

It seems like all games are getting dinged for it and i don't see a big problem with ALL games getting judged with that in mind or ALL games getting judged with out that in mind.

It seems to be an absolutely fabulous game so far and seems to be very much like OoT in many aspects, which i think is a good thing.

I would have given it a low-mid 9/10 vs. a high 8/10 relative to their scale, which would put it up there with all elite games, but it doesn't surprise me that it gets dinged for a lack of originality or genre definining innovation since all games are getting dinged for that now. I'm surprised it got dinged so hard, though. Also note that I don't think you have to be innovative to make a great game if you have solid, polished and proven game mechanics, but that does seem to be something reviewers are taking seriously, into account with reviews now.

What'd you think?

ps I for one would not be happy if TP was too different like MM was, so I'm happy the way things turned out:)

why someone would be really mad over a videogame review is beyond me. if YOU like the game, just play it. i've liked quite a few games that did get great or even good reviews.

I have to agree, but there are some very mad people on the gamespot forums now and other forums as well. They are probably used to it considering they are alwys getting called biased by one group or another because of their low scores.

I can agree with the 8.8 solely for the stupid speaker in the wiimote going HEHE DING CLANK and THUD. That speaker was not built to handle those noises and it is dreadfully annoying.

I'm sorry, did I miss a memo where it was universally accepted that an 8.8 is a bad rating? Last I checked, that's pretty good. That's an 88%. A B+. Pretty friggin' good.

The review is not poor. The reviewer is just an ***.

All in all, it doesn't matter what a game magazine's reviewers think. If you think it's a perfect 10 then by God no one can change that. I personally give TP a perfect 10 because so far its so freakin awesome. That's actually the lowest rating I've seen yet though, everywhere else has been giving it a 10.

I read on the Wii's website last night, under Iwata Asks, an interview they did with the big guys (including Miyamoto) on TP and by just reading that you could tell they poured their heart and souls into this game, they even pushed it back a year so they could add more Zelda-ness to it. They said they wanted to make it "120% Zelda". They took the time to really try to define for themselves what was really Zelda-esque about Zelda games and what makes it Zelda-esque. And how a Zelda game was so many things and you just couldn't tell someone how to make a Zelda game, that these games were unique in their own respects. I really appreciate that and I really admire the staff for it. I think those that bought it have and will get their money's worth. So remember how hard our pals at Nintendo work for us when some jackass tells you Zelda is not innovative or something of the like. IMO, that's just pure ignorance.

You know that you can turn the speaker sound off.....right?

You can also reduce the volume of the speaker, to make it more pleasant sounding. If you pump huge volume through a tiny speaker it's going to distort and sound like ***. Turn it down.

I've been continually in disagreement with reviews lately, there was a post awhile back about review sites being more and more bought off by the companies or biased by being fanboys and I think it's true.

Ign gave Phantasy Star Universe a 5.5 on the PC...I have that game and it deserves more than a 5.5....they're main complaint was that it wasn't this and it wasn;t that.....but you can't review a game based on what it could have been, you should be basing it on what it is. Sure it could have been Halo 3 ...but its not and it wasn't suppose to be.

I'm sorry, I'll have to disagree about Phantasy Star Universe, I played it on PC and it got the score it deserved, it was no where near a good game.
