Uh guess the title says it all.

I used Knoppix as a debian install, but it was outdated, but i still liked it.

im used to Mandrake and SuSE 9.1 FTP installs. I tried debian when i was the COMPLETE NOOB and that was quite unsuccessful. it just didnt boot.

Thanks guys.

I've found it rather straightfoward, if you have some prior Linux experience. You need to know how to partition you drive, and what modules (if any) you need to load to boot the system. You'll also want an idea of how you want your bootloader set up, or you can just skip that step if unsure and make a boot floppy instead (which is what I did the first time). The installer guides you through every step fairly well.

After you successfully install, you'll be dumped at a command line with a very minimal system. So you'll want to be familar with apt-get so you can retrieve and install the software you want.
