Have you watched any videos? Have you read any horror story posts? Can you buy a new one I you fail?

Edit: the guy who took a kitchen knife to do his felt capable enough too otherwise he wouldn't have tried... But he lost both his CPU AND MOBO

This post is the first I've heard of it. I could buy another one if I fail, but I would be extremely butt hurt about it.

A nick in the PCB in the wrong place is all it takes to kill it.
Or a tiny chip off the die.

That's what I thought. I'll sleep on it. I've got a few days before I have to cross that bridge. Thanks for answering my questions guys.

Kitchen knife... really??? Even those triangle razors are to thick and can cause PCB damage, I used a shavers razor blade since it's basically paper thin.

The liquid pro I ordered finally was delivered. I carefully cleaned both the koolance waterblock and the cpu. I spead a bead sized amount of liquid pro on the cpu ensuring I covered the entire surface. I reassembled the computer and ran tests.

The result were better but less than I expected:

core Koolance Paste Liquid pro
0 50 47
1 56 54
2 58 55
3 58 54

Overall i'm glad I delidded my cpu.

That's about what I'd expect, personally. No clue where some people got the "always 10-15c better than AS5/etc!" thing.

What makes you think I haven't?
You're saying "always", which means "every single time, no exceptions", when there is an exception halfway up this page of this very thread.
