NewbiePerson said:it doesn't perform that bad. it's faster than a 9600xt and close to a 9700pro in current games. You can get a 5800 for around $190 but u can also get a 9700 or 5900.
I got mine refurbed for $168.

When have you seen an owner of a fx5700 or higher say gee i wish i had gotten an ati card instead of this thing based on performance and image quality.
Number 2 when have you seen a review that in its conclusion actually said don't buy this card its 100% garbage. Every review i've seen says that nvidia's fx cards are good.
Just check out (I would have posted exact links but my browser shutdown while i was typing so all the links i had are gone )
tomshardware.com (nvidias cards on table)
guru3d.com (nvidia introduces 5700 and 5950)
3dchipset.com (anywhere u see an fx card)
anandtech.com (same as above)
amdmb.com (anywhere you see an fx card under bits and pieces)
extremetech.com (5700 and 5950)
No one says its a bad card and that it's not worth buying.
the only people that say that are you people. You hear something about some little cheat and make it out to be that the game is unplayable with this card. It's garbage i've never seen anything so horrible i wouldn't take this card if it was for free.
So hear is a long awaiting article from anandtech comparing image quality. Be sure to look at the conclusion. Although it's in more favor of ati it doesn't say nvidia is worthless and shouldn't be considered when looking for a video card.

Also note ati does al better but nvidia does af better.
So why in the name of Zeus do you people constantly make nvidia's fx line to be worthless garbage, while every professional review says its a decent card. Everyone's performance for future games is still questionable. True ati's isn't as questionable but nonetheless if you can find an fx cheaper than its competing ati counterpart it is most likely ok to buy.
I've owned a radeon le, gf3 ti200, aiw 7500, radeon 9500pro and now a fx5800 (it's true the af is indeed better looking than my 9500 pro and likewise for the al). Most of the people that joke nvidia's fx line haven't even touched a 5700 or higher.
Eveyrone knows the fx5200 and 5600 are lacking but other than that nvidia is and OK card.
Also these cards are great overclockers. As you can see from many of the people who do own these cards in the forums.
NewbiePerson said:i don't know about the 9700 being in another league with af and al.
I do after all get 90fps on max payne 2 with max af and al at a res of 1280*1024. Even though my card is a meager 128bit in the ram is clocked at 400 giving it 12.8gb and it will do 450stable so thats 14.4gb. I may not beat a 9700 pro but i should be very close to a 9700np if not more. I think a np has like 17.2gb of bandwidth but my clockspeed should make up for that.
You may be thinking the ati series vs the old ti series. the 9500pro gets double what the ti4600 could get with af and al turned on.
The only cards with ddr2 if im not mistaken are the 5700, 5800. They each have 128bit. The 9800xt and 5950 have 256bit and ddr2 (i'm not 100%about the 5950 being ddr2 but im definately sure of the 9800xt)
I probably should of added $30 and got the 5900. but i'm still happy with the fx5800 the only thing i have against it is the massive heat.
I'm just wondering what exactly does ddr2 do for a video card?
It doesn't appear to increase the mem bandwidth any.... does it help sustain the bandwidth being used?
