So, who's getting a 5XXX series card?

This talk reminds me those IR gun thermometers don't measure a point, but a circle around the indicated dot. The further away the measurement point is, the bigger the circle. If you're looking to measure something the size of a power connector, you'll probably have to get pretty close to get that effective size down. Then if the laser isn't exactly centred on the IR measurement, there could be another offset error from that.

Edit: found this on an ebay listing of a random cheap unit. See if the specific unit owned might have a different ratio.

I was looking for that diagram. I have an IR thermometer around somewhere that has that on the side of it.

"Ranting about LTT spreading misinformation about the 12V-2x6 connector on 50 series cards."

Tldr all 5090 cards have the same type of wiring on the power connector as the founders except the Asus astral which has individual pin sensing but as far as I can tell no additional safety built in to save the card?

Are you using "LTT" as an abbreviation of "Linux Tech Tools" (or Linus Tech Talk or whatever...) which one is it?

I would imagine this whole thing will eventually turn into an mini Xbox 360 Yellow Light of Death scenario that NVIDIA will never actually have to care about given how few people tend to buy X090 cards compared to all the other cards.

They'll replace the ones that burn people's houses down... and just cross their fingers on the ones that don't while quietly modifying the design for the next batch and never actually issuing a recall.

Back to the topic at hand (who's getting these cards...) as of today, I can get all the 5070/ti cards that I want at absurdly inflated prices and I will NEVER see a 5070, in this country, for anywhere near 500 bucks.

(What was it someone said? Something like a "2%" markup?? Or was it "20%"? Try 40-60%...)

Just curious.........which body part would you give for this................... (kidding, in case it doesn't land with some folk, lol)...

Golden RTX 5090 Astral signed by Jensen himself??? This is second ONLY to any one of his stage-worn leathers....

That's pretty awesome looking but I still wouldn't pay more than MSRP or as close as possible.

Was shocked to learn earlier you can get a 50 series GPU in the UK for MSRP, right now, kinda. It's one model of the 5070, at the launch MSRP. Due to changing exchange rates, apparently the MSRP has officially been lowered since then, and it is not at the updated MSRP. 5070 Ti and 5080 are ball park 20% over MSRP. All those are in stock ready to ship, not counting pre-orders. 5090 still unobtainium.

Link? (Although there's probably some sort of import tax to the EU now... YAYYY BREXIT!)

"...the launch actually went very well..." ⇾ "...availability pricing, fake MSRP, PCIe issues, black screen issues, missing rops, missing physics, melting connectors, what did I forget..."

A post mortem? I guess as a YTer you have to put out a vid, any vid, lol.

Im interested in Nvidia's 'embarassing statement' tho.......
"...I'm also not sure what did you expect, obviously if you mention those technical details that are just purely wrong, obviously I'm making a video about it, and you know what's really awkward for me, now is that in one or two days I'm invited to see Nvidia Munich, we'll probably see the same people there, that's going to be super awkward..."

Expecting to also see a Buildzoid rant after this
