So, who's getting a 5XXX series card?

was briefly considering 5070ti until price...
nah

$700+ seems like a bit much for any xx70 card, i dont care if its faster than what ever 40 card

If I don't get any review samples, I will stay with what I have now. If anyone releases a unique ITX-size card, I could get it, but it would be something from the lower shelf as everything mid/high is already 200W+, so it requires a larger cooler.

I hope there's an AIO model at launch!

The MSI RTX5090 with AIO was presented, which means it's ready. Therefore, it should also be available in stores in the first wave of cards. The only question is availability, as I bet not all stores will order them. People may also fight for first cards, so good luck if you want to get one ;)

You care more about the name of the card than what it does? The 5070 is there at $549 and seems a worthy successor to the 4070.

No AIO for me. Discrete blocks all the way. I'm also not too worried about extreme overclocking either, so will probably opt for the FE and wait for an appropriate block. Also hoping for single slot I/O brackets. Many moons ago, I'd modded my card to be single slot, including cutting the DVI header off. Fat brackets annoy the hell out of me.

That said, I have expectations here, but will also wait for actual reviews.

I have been "thinking" about adding a third monitor I need it to match up in size with the other two. Do you have a recommendation?
You probably won't even notice the bottleneck at 1440p (165 FPS instead of 175 FPS), but the best solution to remove the bottleneck is to get a 4K monitor. I'm sure you can find a CPU review showing that.

I was going to go with 5070Ti, but I might stretch to a 5080. And that will be my last GPU upgrade until I am in my 50s. My kids can suffer with my hand me downs for awhile :D

I'm running the little brother (LG 32G?650 1440p) to your monitors, so I've got no input. That would be a great new topic though. I'd certainly follow it. The choices for 4k are a lot better now than a year or two ago.

And that will be my last GPU upgrade until I am in my 50s.
How old are you again? 49 & 1/2? :ROFLMAO:

I'm going to try and grab a MSI or ASUS 5090 at launch. I may WC right away or not. I'm hoping that we see dual power HP12V from Asus or GALAX in the next year. I'd rather have something like that for long term. It would be worth it to grab a day 1 GPU just to make sure the price is at its hopeful lowest lol.

A glimpse in to what could be the future. 5080 mobile is 18% faster than the 4080 mobile. This seems more realistic after seeing the farcry 6 benchmark.

Since everyone is talking about their favorite 5090. Here is mine. I dig the 4 fan configuration. Just curious to what type of premium is going to be put on it.

Suprim(ly) so.

Should have some good ones today... Asus and Giga later in the afternoon... :)

Yep! Watched the HWUnboxed video showed ones from MSI, Gigabyte, and Asus. So should be available from all 3. I just can't imagine what the premium is going to be... $500?

The Astral series looks good if you plan not to WC. Strix or TUF if you will WC.

Gigabyte had a small announcement showing a 5090 with their own waterblock. I probably won't consider that. Gigabyte GPUs have seem to be disappointing recently.

BTW found an OC edition of Astral: https://rog.asus.com/us/graphics-cards/graphics-cards/rog-astral/rog-astral-rtx5090-o32g-gaming/

So it looks like there are even more variants to be announced in the coming weeks.

I believe gigabyte also showed one with a 360 AIO like everyone else.

The OC edition is now my favorite, lol.

Your GPU is also not doing anything in that pic. That's idle temp...and nothing great. I get that temp under full load on water. If the setup is right, it will have low temps at very little noise. It will be less than anything on air.

See the CUDA graph? That's not idle temp. That's running Folding@Home for 10-13M PPD. My 3090 Ti FTW was steady into the 70-75c range with fans needing to run at 100%. I sold that card because this 4070 Super out does it in every way. I get even lower temps than this while gaming.
Post magically merged:

I like the designs I've seen so far (msi)... we'll get them up on the front page ASAP. Just got back from the first day of meetings.

The MSI stuff looks cool, as does the Gigabyte range so far. Gonna be a fun series I think!

Yeah I'll be looking for the cheapest Gigabyte 5090 (Or 2) . Unless somehow I can get a FE. Just hope I have a nurses aid for that day.(My wife is Disabled)

Galax seems great on paper, but besides some world records in OC on LN2 a few years ago, they are not really so special. I had problems with terrible coil whine in the HoF series, and later, I saw many others confirm the same in RTX1000/2000. In RTX3000/4000, there were almost no products on the market, and you could buy mid-shelf products, which were ... well... mediocre compared to ASUS or MSI's offerings. People were complaining about low fan quality and some other things. I would stick with ASUS or whoever gives the best warranty.

I'm maybe not so old, but in the last 10 years, coil whine has been getting on my nerves. This is also because I have a PC on my desk, and fans are nearly silent. The Colorful RTX4080 that I have is great - has a quiet cooler and low coil whine. However, I'm using it for reviews only and it will probably go to my brother's PC once I get anything newer.
Hopefully, the coil whine won't be so audible in RTX5080/90.

It's funny how the point of view has changed. A couple of years ago, everyone would say that FE is meh. Now, everyone mentions the top models with AIO or FE. I assume that except for 2 of the most popular ASUS and maybe 2 Gigabyte/MSI will have full-cover blocks. ASUS Strix/TUF always has it. Other models usually have them sometime later, depending on market demand. EK will probably stick with Strix+TUF and FEs as they always do. Alphacool generally covers more models. Bykski covers nearly all leading manufacturers' lines and also some less popular brands, but I'm not sure if I would trust them with first revision blocks if I spent $2k+ on the graphics card. I had no problems with 3 or 4 of their blocks except for the wrong thermal pad thickness. I still have the Colorful RTX4080 block waiting in the box. Recently installed Bykski block for RTX4070S works great.
Alphacool presented their RTX5080/90 blocks. As we can read in the news, at the premiere date, they will cover:
  • NVIDIA RTX 5080
    • Palit various models
    • Gainward various models
    • Inno3D various models
    • ASUS ROG Strix
    • ASUS TUF Gaming
    • MSI Suprim
    • MSI Gaming
  • NVIDIA RTX 5090:
    • Palit various models
    • Gainward various models
    • Inno3D various models
    • ASUS ROG Strix
    • ASUS TUF Gaming
    • MSI Suprim
    • MSI Gaming
I assume that everything with "various models" it's because these brands release only one PCB for the whole line of cards on the same GPU.

I see that everyone is going for the RTX5000 series. Where are all those who wanted the new AMD? Both brands were just presented.
