What you need to realize about the XP120 is how tall it is. its not solid to its base. There is an upper shelf that is about 2 inches taller than the base. Im going to take a pix of my PC later today but for now here is my old A64 setup using an XP-90. Perhaps this will give you a better idea:

Sentential, is that the 25mm or 38mm 3-blade Delta in the pics? In this pic, it looks to have a "normal" sized hub so I'm wondering if it's the fan or the pic (or possibly me just not seeing as well as I used to). Maybe I should just order one of each and take a look at them.

tch tch tch tch - a martini is still a martini how ever it is made & the best are always made with vodka - and thanks for the compliment MVC.....

Sentential>I will Look for your postings later on... also will be posting the comments from Thermalright as soon as they come in.......and I have time.....Toodles...

I forget which but it has a "normal" hub. If you'd like I can do a side by side my Sunan Tornado. The hub is the same size as a standard 80mm fan but its very deep

Pix of LGA775 rig and CPU clearence as requested:

As you can *clearly* see. You have plenty of room. You should have zero trouble getting an XP120 or larger on an LGA

That's OK, I don't need the comparison pic, but thanks for the close-ups of the mounting--if I don't water cool the machine I'm typing on when I finish my current project, that would be the way to go. It's just that I keep hearing about these 3-bladed Delta fans and in that one pic at Sidewinder the hub looked huge. Anyway, I'm going to order one 25mm and one 38mm just to get a good look at them. They certainly look nice--hell, they're beautiful--and I'm sure I can find a use for them :)

Sentinel> Thanks... I will confirm with Thermalright and let everyone know - It looks like it will fit my board despite the size - we will see.

Im telling ya man, the majority of the HSF is a good 2 inches above the base. It *will* fit.

MVC I agree... they are beautiful fans. However their are much more useful than they are beautiful if you can belive that :eek:

Sentential, I've decided that you're a bad influence!!! I went and ordered the fans from Sidewinder (the low speed ones, one 25mm and one 38mm, I don't need 51 dB which is what the high speed 38mm one is rated at) and then threw in an XP-120 for good measure. So, $93.70 later.... And I was trying to be good. It's a good thing all the checks I wrote last month for my kids' tuition bills have already cleared!

LOL... you wouldnt have been the first person to say that to me.:shrug: Just dont see any of my review threads otherwise the same thing will happen lol :santa: Congrats on your new purchases.

ok......

I await the office opening of Thermalright as to the inquiry and have located the XP-90 @ http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/thxpforforin1.html for 36.95USD This is good. Plus the fan will be about 16 dollars and hte retention bracket is also 1USD less than many others and shipping also. we will see what Thermalright says shortly. WOO HOO - almost done... Now all I need it that idiot Emperex - no good burner that makes nothing but coasters replaced with the Sony forthcomming and the new case - WOO HOO - finally - almost done. For the time being. - heh
Sidewinder computewrs is pretty good about pricing after checking about.

And Sentential> You are just one of the ones here who know what your talking about in this case and have a similar build - that always helps - heh. Intel freak here personally - despite the current cooling issues.. I know I ask a lot of questions but Holmesian deductive reasoning is a difinitive forte and pratice. It has saved me from many headaches over the years... Reports soon to follow......

Good News...

The folks at Thermalright.com

Say that the XP90 will fit fine - so here we go.... At the current masure of case4 height I have enough clearance for either the 120 or the 90. Due to Monetary status I must go with the XP-90 till the next flush and I can do Water. The XP-90R Retail package is priced very reasonably and comes with fan - that will be used as a case fan for I wish for more gusto.

I will place a Delta 92x38mm TFB0912GHE Extreme High Speed Fan on a front slot fan controller card I found on Garage sale clearnace on another site - Too bad I have to go there but this is costing enough already when watercooling is the next step. This way I will already have a 92mm fan for the radiator when it arrives.

In the mean time.... It should be about 3 days before everything arrives and I will be sure to inform whether success of failure...

Good stuff however did you buy the LGA775 adapter or not? You *DO* need one to use it

Sentential> Of course I did - As you said.... I DOOOOOOO need it....

The only thing I don't like about that blasted bracket is that I have to dismantle the entire computer to put it in, and then I can't get to my chip if I need to without dismantling it AGAIN.. Now I know I know I know - One should never have to mess with the CPU - It's just the idea that I can't get to it without taking the comp apart TOTALLY that Galls me beyonde a blithered blatherskyte.

* Sighs * Another place for dust to collect......

And yes... I remembered to get the Heatsink Compound - Arctic 5 Micronized silver type. At least the CoolerGuys had the fan controls on garage sale clearance. After all these expenses I am fair straped for the next few months.

Thanks for all the help everyone - I will let you know how it goes. After all the crashes and locks caused by the blasted overheating * Swears like a sailor for a moment * I may have to reinstall the OS. It is acting funny - Too bad really - this install was perfect and now all I have to do is put in any CD 3 times in a row and the sys locks or just goes " POOF " - plus numerous other bugs.... Sometimes it just decides to quit, hopefully this is also due to the overheating. Please Folks - do get the proper heatsink so you don't have to go through what I have because the idiota in the sales dept who are supposed to be trained and know what they are doing to at least a minor degree don't cause this circumstance to develop............ It's not worth all the headaches... I am very happy with the build - but still.

Thanks again everyone - your help has kept me from using the floor or second story window tools on this 2500USD machine.

* It's About Friggin Time!!!... *

XP-90 HS installed

* System teperatures:

81F @ Idle

Seemingly 111F Peak load in realtime processing with FSB overclocked to rated CPU Freq. of 3.227GHz

Not..... Bad..... At All.....

And that is with the Old fan on auto control because the controlpanel has yet to arrive. WOO HOO - That Delta is a really powerful fan. T'will blow dry your hair if you wish it I'd circumspeculate, so interfrastically the old fan will do. Stability acheived.

SETI is cookin' with masta' gasssssss 3.47min for 3.001% Like..... Wow... It looks like the computer's much more stable for configuration...... Time for some " Official overclocking. " But not too much - heh. At least not until waterized or better.... Ohhhhhhh Toys toys toys toys.

Thank you all so much and God Bless.
