Ist it possible to run a S939 CPU "Vencice" with only one stick of RAM?
If yes, how much performance is approximately lost?

If no, how well will different sticks of the same speedgrade (got an older DDR1 PC3200 stick from twinmos here) work together with a newly bought one which is most probably a different chip or even maker?

I have run across dual channel machines with one stick before. To validate my reason that it can run as a single stick. When ever there is possible RAM issues with DC machines. It is suggested to remove one stick and test each seperatly. :D So with that, it should run happily with just one. Be it a little slower.

The performance hit Iwould assume..Stock would be minor to about 10%(my guess). It will not be a total drag hit. I have read the only difference is like a few points in percentage. Something like 3% or so. I think it is a little more then that. But, it is not totally major.

Gaming and some other related RAM dependant tasks will take the largest hit. Average tasks will not be as noticable. If at all.

I have only ran into one issue mixing RAM before. It was a stick of Wintec and a dual kit of OCZ. The SPD was so far apart, it made the sticks freak out and give a strange error. Other then that. I havent had to many issues mixing and matching. Long as the SPD is close. It is possible, but inserting and trying it out will tell the tale. Unles you know the exact parts and if they have a known conflict. There is no other easy way to find out. Give them a whirl.

Edit: If the SPD match, you could possibly be able to run it in dual channel.
