How do I do a soft restart under windows XP?
With windows 98 I use to just hold down shift while clicking restart.

I work with XP and I never used the software restart with a keyboard combination yet. pushing the on/off button quickly will however put your system into a restart :)

Go to your taskbar

Start /shutdown/restart

I'm not quite sure what the keyboard cobo is

Hope this helps

Not at all.

Everyone knows how to restart their computer.
I want to know how to do it without doing a full hardware restart.

In XP, there is no soft restart, at least not to my knowledge.

98 is based on a lot of DOS code, thus you can exit Windows and enter a DOS only prompt. In 2k, XP, 2003, you cannot exit Windows completely into a DOS prompt, and restart Windows with a "win.com" file like older Windows.
