JerMe, tks a lot for the indeep explaination!! 👍

I've downloaded EM, but when I dragNdrop or point it to the FAH folder, it said no Folding client found??

also, in a HT'ed machine, should I also create 2 FAH folder and put 2 client in it?

oh, I forgot to mention that I can (most of the time) up/down'load WUs everyday (at least 1 to 2 times) via that single dial up machine in the farm. but can't keep on all the time. therefore, should I still run the timeless WUs? (I guess not, right?)

it will still work even if it said no client found, and yes you should create 2 folder for your HT'ed machine. You dont have to do the timeless Wus if you dont want to. Just make sure if the rigs are fast enough to complete it within the alloted time.

ANd welcome to the FOLD :D

what's the time limit on most WU in Folding? a week? 2 weeks?

oh, and can I control up/down'load with EM? or it just showing the progress only?

They give you enough time so that even a slower 400 Mhz PC can usually finish them. That is how they are benchmarked.

This lists all of the points, deadlines, and preferred deadlines for the wus currently available:

I am pretty sure EM just shows progress, nothing more, but I haven't used it for quite a while.
tks!

so, what do you and most FAH member use? just the console? (but I can't seem to put it into the systray...?) or OneClick as service? or else??

I have 10 machines here folding on 2 dialup connections if thats any consolidation for ya ;) I feel for ya bro, we're in the same SLOW boat :(

It will also tell you how much time remaining and how many points the wu is worth.Pretty cool.
Nothing about a deadline though.

could you share what's your setup w/ me??

Its actually 2 houses, my house and my folks house, there next to eachother and networked together. Each house has one computer with a dial up modem and ICS running, and the computers at each house connect to the corresponding computer to share net access. for example, the server in my house is set to 192.168.1.1 and at my parents house 192.168.1.10, so at my house all the computers have thier default gateway set as 192.168.1.1 and thier house as 192.168.1.10, all are setup to have a secondary gateway as well, which is the server in the opposite house, so if the dial up connection is down at one house, they still have internet access. I have had this setup for about 2 years now and it is working great(well as great as 56k can get) Each server also runs ProxyPlus which is a proxy/cache server so that greatly helps web browsing when going to sites repeatedly, all images that have been viewed before are stored in cache and only have to be loaded from the server, instead of redownloading them. Basically the same as your web browser does but a much better job of it and one system can do it for the entire lan.

Another great tool for folding on 56k is a program called Netlimiter, it can set how much thorough put any program can use. I set it to allow F@H to have 2k/s of bandwidth up and down, while slow it does get the units through and still makes web browsing possible.

Hope that helps you out!
