ok, ive gotten Linux to work using a boot up floppy :)

and ive gotten XP back up by rewriting the master boot record :)

so now, how do i use the XP boot loader to boot up linux, is this possible?

also do your scroll button mouses work in Linux?

Well it's possible, there's a thread ealier that talks about it. I don't think it's a very good way to boot linux, especially if you update your kernel on a semi regular basis.

What's wrong with grub or lilo? At least they play well with other OSs.

i am with polypill...either grub or lilo would be much more of a logical choice. they are friendly with ALL os's, as the xp bootloader will probably work, but go kicking and screaming the whole time. grub looks very nice, but both do the job. i guess its up to you, but i believe grub or lilo would be best for you and me, since we're n00bs.

yup!....too bad i found download sites for grub and it said that it also ran off a floppy but if i wanted to get it on my hard drive i had to find a debian package or something, and LiLo "came" with my Mandrake CD, but it doesnt work :(....

well mandrake automatically intalls it for you and when i started up i got binary code and no OS:eh?: ...but my setup now is good, when i want to use Linux i stick the floppy in....i wont use it that much seeing as my favorite apps are in winblows....

Ah, I think I remember this from another thread. If booting off a floppy works for you, stick to it. I personally use a LILO floppy, as XP grinds to a halt when LILO is on the MBR.
