Well on the plexiglass isuue I have attached a pic that is obviously for car audio, but built and designed by Bobby Gately and anyone that knows anything about car audio knows that name. And if you don't he is one of the greats as far as SPL levels and installs go. But the point is plexiglass can be (if its thick enough 3/4 to 1 inch) just as strong as MDF or other woods used for speaker installation.

mmeh, i was insterested in plexi as a "passive radiator", not a whole box.

BTW, cosmetics=not an issue, i dont care what this looks like in the end.

OO, the brahma, thats one scary sub.
i've had my fair share of experiance with plexiglass, if its not more then 1/2" (even a small window) you'll have problems because it will flex. The seal on mine blew a few times and recently cracked, its a little under 1/2"

Lanzar makes good amps, cheap ones at that, but their subs are iffy
they sound a little dull like the cheap infinity subs, not the greatest cones, you could do better for the price..

I have the SAME excate mtx sub, they're great, you can get it off ebay for about 30-40shipped , referb. got my mirrors buzzing with 150w and a prefab box, a really good budget sub, but lacks in quality a bit and i don't like the basket a lot, its kind of weak, but if u were able to get it off ebay for 30-40, its a damn good deal.

Pyramid = crapiola, just stay away from brands like pyramid and legacy. you'll find pyle on partsexpress too, used to be a decent company, not anymore, avoid them.

why don't u look into some of the dayton subs on partsexpress? if u specificly want a car sub, look for elemental, memphis, mtx on ebay.

im not much into specifics, the thing im interested in is feeling the bass a bit.

i dont want loud so much as hard, you know? i like to feel it. right now i crank up my stock speakers to the point where they are obviously being damaged so i can feel it, and its way too loud. i dont know what it is, i like to feel the bass.

So im shooting for something that i can use to take the bass off of my current speakers (as i dont want to replace those just yet) so i dont damage them...

I was hoping to do this without an expensive amp or driver, but its looking harder and harder every day...

I might just end up desginating my trunk to audo entirely, with a large woofer enclosure and an audio pc and a few other things...although i diddnt want to lose it, it looks like the smaller the more costly. My car happens to have allot of room in the trunk (when i take all the trash out, that is...)

Ill work out the amplification... but i definately need help making the woofer.

Well whats your budget for the project? I covered my subwoofers with some jet black carpet but thats just for cosmetics. If you've got some MDF (or even particle board WILL work but isnt ideal :) ) It should be fairly low cost. Parts express or mcm should have some decent drivers in the $30 price range. Something like this would put the logitech sub to shame.

But you do have to factor in the amplifier price and crossover price if you have a normal amp you can use.

Ryan

i have two of those drivers. they sound excelent. it puts more than a logitech to shame ;)

hey...by luck i ran across this: "tactile transducers"

Feel the bass....EXACTLY what i want!

but now that im almost dead set on a sub i want to hear it too... why cant i ever win?

ok, probably making 2 6X9's i have (old dead ripped out jensen coax II's) into these transducers....if i can figure it out.

im also pretty sold on making my own subwoofer setup (not building the driver, guys! just the box, and moding some amp for it.

just logging in my ideas before i forget!
