now i try a fresh version of windows install, but it needs drivers but i dont have an A drive which it only supports.

crap

so i go and get my old 120gb from my other comp, hook it up to the new system, download drivers, and install. windows says its installed but its not appearing in control panel. i dont know if its suppose to appear or not or how. i just want windows in this!

please help asap!
thnx!

Well you are gonna have to install window on a IDE drive first if you don't have a floppy. Then the SATA drive won't show up in my computer until you format it, I always use partition magic so I can't remember how to do it in windows but it can be done. I don't think it should show up in the control panel though... I think you are ok, just need to format it.

EDIT: CHeck this out: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=313348

If I understand you, you've intalled Windows on the 120 IDE, and the SATA is a slave in the system. But it doesn't show in My Computer?

I think it needs to be formatted. Then it will be assigned a letter, and show in My Computer.

To format it (XP Pro); go to Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management, Storage, Disk Management.

You can then format it.

no

soryry my bad typing last night. was exhausted literally.

i want a fresh install in the SATA. just 200GB SATA only. i do not want the 120gb. i only used that to try to install windows in the 120gb.

thanks!

Ok, well you are probably gonne need to use a floppy then... I have heard of somone doing it anyother way but I don't remember how and I think they had a converter or somthing so they could install the stuff on IDE.
