Someone explain this whole SB Live! Problem...

From what I can rather from reading up on the internet, this "SB Live!" problem only results with HD errors is this correct?

This is only from the mobo's IDE adapter though, so using my trusty Promise ATA100 Fastrack controller card should result in zero problems.

I would guess that if you're using a seperate IDE controller card that there would not be problems, as the problem is with IDE functions on the Via 686B southbridge. I may be wrong, though.
