i did hit post too many times....too impatient!!! ....anyway, i have a GIGABYTE 7IXE4 mobo and a duron 850 ....i can only change the FSB on the mobo ....is there any way to change the clock ratio....theres no option in the bios, but is there a way to poke around to turn off the auto clock multiplier detect...cheers

theres no option in the bios...thats my point!!! ...no jumpers, no nothing...theres these mod things, but theyre scary.....and a new motherboard is outta the question

If you can't change it by jumper or in the BIOS, you'll have to get very radical. You have to trick the motherboard into thinking the CPU is something else. There is aan artcle at http://www.tomshardware.com called, I believe, Overclocking AMD's Socket Processors, which will show you what bridges to connect and cut for each voltage and multiplier setting. Of course, you do this at your own risk

its freaky business that is......thats for the pros of overclocking....maybe im one at heart ;¬)
