Sound Blaster Live! Value

I recently acquired a Sound Blaster Live! Value card from a friend. It has two outputs, but only the second one works. Anyone know why this is? And, is there a fix?

the green one is Line Out. The black one is Rear Speaker Out. Both sets work fine on mine, using just the card's drivers (none of the Creative tools)

Maybe you have to fiddle with it to turn them on if you installed the Liveware package- tons of options to tinker with there.

Line out can only be used with line-level equipment. The black Rear outs are powered, so they can both drive a speaker (sort of) or be used as interconnects.

I cant find that software anywhere, I found an upgrade tho. Do you know where I can download it?

as i recall Creative started charging money for the Liveware download, which is pretty stupid. You have to use either the version that came with the card or buy the software.

Regular old drivers are still availible, try a Google search. If not, drivers for an SB16 will do in a pinch

I have the 98 drivers and the 2000 drivers on disk. And the livewire, but i don't even use the livewire.

My rear speakers still dont work...Do I need that software for them to work?

i am using only the drivers, NOT the Liveware, and after a quick check the black plug doesn't work at all. Guess you need the livewire to enable them. Makes sense, tho- they are supposed to be Surround outs, you'd need some kind of software going to decode a signal for the black from the fronts.
