ok i have the ac 97 sound on my abit vl6 and i have sound elabled in the bios and then i have the option to turn on sound blaster, what is that? Does it boost the quality of my sound?

Soundblaster enables legacy sound support (16-bit) which basically allows you to play terribly old games which required to find sound hardware on a particular address and IRQ. Maybe some of the more experienced guys here can help you out more.

What I do know is, if you don't play old DOS games on your comp, you should keep it turned off to have a free IRQ.
