I built my PC recently and cos of price i skimped a little and got a creative soundblaster 4.1 digital (as opposed to an audigy)
I have it hooked up via an analogue cable from the "Front line-out/digital out" to the line-in on my hifi.
This works alright and i can happily listen to my music, or have sound in my games.

However, it can only do one at once. If (for example) i am playing mp3s and then a sound is triggered in mirc, or i ma playing a game, the sound from mirc or the game cannot play. However if i stop the music the other thing can work.

Any ideas whats wrong, or should i have just got a proper soundcard and i'm stuck like this (cant afford another)?

some sound cards allow muliple wave out devices, yours doesn't look like it does. Check your sound options in control panel to see if you can enable it.

I cant find any options to turn it on anywhere in my control panel :(
Also the card is exactly what i said, copied that straight from the box.
Starting to wish i had got a quality card now, though i may be able to flog this to my IT teacher at school (cos he wants a cheap system and it doesnt need top spec) and then get a decent card.
