Sound card selection?

Hey guys I've been using integrated sound for the time and I've been wanting to step it up to a sound card over the holidays.

Price 130$ (around)
Best card for that price?

on black friday, i picked up an audigy 2 zs gamer edition for 20 bux at fry's. if you must have the best and the newest stuff, look for a x-fi music edition or something. its MSRP is 129 dollars.

first and foremost, what is the main purpose of your speakers or pc you will be using it with? (gaming, music, or movies?) got surround? just 2 channel?

I'm going to say X-fi XtremeMusic, regardless of your reason for wanting a good sound card.

i wouldn't recommend the x-fi unless gaming took up at least 50% of the activity

If you listen primarily to music, do yourself a favor and get the $25 AV-710, and spend the rest on good cans =)
